It looks like the Church of England is doing little to negate the decline in Church based weddings in fact judging by latest headlines they are indeed going out of their way to end it completely.

Overall the number of couples taking any kind of vow or formal ceremony is decreasing. In the last few years more and more venues have licenses to hold weddings, clearly they are operating in a declining market.

I understand that inflationary costs apply to almost any industry and religion aside, the Church in charging for the service fits that category albeit loosely. But, in today’s market a 40% hike – ouch!
